| Welcome to our website
paying tribute to the P&O Far East Sisters - S.S. Corfu and
S.S.Carthage. Prior to the introduction of the famous P&O White
Sisters - RMS Strathnaver (1931) and RMS Strathaird (1932) in the
1930s, P&O first introduced a smaller additional pair of ships for
the Far East service. They were designed to replace the old "K" class
ships. They
were graceful twin funnelled ships built by Alexander Stephen &
Sons Ltd, Glasgow and still carried the traditional P&O black and
stone livery. So they were quite an imposing pair of ships
really.
This website aims to record the history of these P&O Far East Sisters and act as a virtual home to honour and commemorate these fine ships. We hope you enjoy this website and when you leave we hope you will visit again soon. |
